What Is a Recessed Light?

A recessed light is a ceiling light fitted into a round or square hole cut in the false ceiling, so the body and driver sit above the ceiling and only the light face shows. Think of it like a built-in cupboard compared with a free-standing almirah: it does the same job but leaves the room looking cleaner.

How to Choose the Right Cutout Size

The cutout is the hole your electrician or carpenter cuts in the false ceiling. Always match the cutout listed on the product, not the outer size of the light, because the trim needs to rest on the ceiling around the hole.

  • 4 inch to 5 inch: bedrooms, kitchens and study rooms.
  • 6 inch to 8 inch or 300 x 300 mm: living rooms, shops, offices and halls.
