What Is an Artificial Skylight?

A regular LED panel light spreads even white light across a room. An artificial skylight is built to look like the sky itself, not just to make the room bright.

The fixtures here use micro-nano optics based on Rayleigh scattering. This is the same effect that makes the real sky look blue: as light passes through the air, blue wavelengths scatter across the sky. Recreating that inside the fixture gives a sense of depth that a flat panel cannot. Think of it as the difference between a painted window and a real one. You look up and the ceiling seems to open.

All six models share the same core features: tunable light from 2700K warm white to 6500K daylight, colour rendering of CRI 95 or above, a 220 to 240V AC input and a 3-year replacement warranty on the driver and LED module.

The square and rectangular models need a cutout slightly smaller than the panel (for example 585 x 585 mm for the SL-ST6060) and about 155 mm of depth above the false ceiling. Check the exact cutout on each product page before the ceiling is closed.

Square, Rectangular or Circular: Which Artificial Skylight Should You Choose?

• Square skylights feel like a classic roof window. The 300 mm size fits small rooms, and the 600 mm size works as the centrepiece of a bedroom or living room.
• Rectangular skylights follow long, narrow ceilings. The 1200 x 300 mm model suits corridors, office aisles and reception counters.
• Circular skylights read like an open dome. The moving sun version adds a sun that travels across the panel, which makes the effect more convincing in spaces where people spend long hours.

Where an Artificial Skylight Works Best

An artificial skylight earns its place where daylight is missing and the room feels enclosed. Many Kolkata flats have inner rooms that face a narrow light well or have no window at all. An artificial sky ceiling changes how these rooms feel without any structural work on the roof.

Every model follows the Tuya Zigbee 3.0 gateway compatibility standard, so the skylight can be controlled from a phone app and grouped with other units. A Zigbee setup needs a compatible smart home gateway. For building automation projects, DALI-2 DT8 drivers are available on request.

Tunable white from 2700K to 6500K lets the room follow the day. A bedroom can sit at warm amber after sunset, while an office stays close to daylight white during working hours.

Artificial Skylight Price in India: What Affects the Cost

The price of an artificial skylight depends mainly on three things:

• Size. The 300 x 300 mm SL-ST3030 is the entry point. Larger panels and wider circular sizes cost more.
• Shape and effect. Circular skylights, and especially the moving sun version, sit at the premium end of the range.
• Number of units. A full sky ceiling made of several grouped panels is quoted as a project.

When comparing quotes from different suppliers, check whether colour rendering, tunable white, smart control and warranty are included, because these change the real value of a skylight. The current price of each model, including any running offer, is shown on its product page.

Plan the Whole Ceiling Together

A skylight looks best when the rest of the ceiling supports it. Many clients pair it with anti-glare COB downlights for task light around the edges.

For a soft glowing border around the sky panel, a recessed LED profile light in the false ceiling completes the look.
